The TR12 drivetrain system is the result of an intimate development relationship with 5x DH World Cup Overall Champion, Aaron Gwin, and his personal mechanic, John Hall. From start to finish, the project spanned more than two full years of conceptualizing to achieve this high-performance design.
DERAILLEUR
The new TR12 rear derailleur is able to provide a quiet and accurate ride over the roughest trails. The key feature to this pursuit is the Hall Lock. During the Race season, lead mechanic for Intense Factory Racing, John Hall, noticed excessive movement around the B-knuckle when riding over rough rock gardens and in tracked out corners. This was leading to more chain skipping and slapping creating possible variances in shifting. This inspired John's idea to lock the B-knuckle to the bike's derailleur hanger. TRP engineers worked closely with Hall to create this feature, The Hall Lock.
- Hall Lock
- G-Spec Ratchet Clutch
- G-Spec finishing touches
- Carbon fiber cage & upper link
- Extra-wide parallelogram pivot
- Sealed cartridge bearing pulleys
SHIFTER
Ergonomics are key to Aaron, which is why he wanted something a little different. As a result, TRP engineers looked at the cable release lever's ergonomics and devised a system to move it in a linear path to mimic the motion of a rider's thumb, rather than rotating it away. This unique positioning allows for a more consistent contact patch providing overall better grip and shifting performance when the trail gets rowdy.
- Shift levers designed and located for optimum performance by Aaron Gwin

Shimano's 105 Braze-On Front Derailleur sports extra-wide beefy pivots, which eliminate flex for lightning-quick shifts. Plus, the clear-coated aluminum body and chrome-plated-steel cage will last for years.
Shimano's 105 Rear Derailleur for triples is a sweet upgrade. Shifting is almost effortless thanks to the light-action spring. Plus, the 105's top pulley stays a uniform distance from each sprocket so shifts resonates with the plunk of exact gear engagement. And the wide outer-pivot design increases rigidity for precision shifts every time.
Shimano's Deore XT Rear Derailleur handles the pressure! Its low-normal design moves the chain to the easy-pedaling gears (large cogs) with very little shift-lever pressure so it's easy to shift while climbing. Plus, the wide pivot design increases rigidity and longevity for miles and miles of crisp shifts. This combination of efficiency and light weight have long made the XT a favorite of racers and freeriders alike.
Shimano's Deore XT Rear Derailleur uses cold-forged construction and cutting edge technology to deliver crisp shifting, real-world reliability, and trademark precision. The Direct Mount uses less parts and provides a solid connection to your machine. The Shadow design tucks the rear derailleur closer to the wheel, which keeps it out of the way of roots and rocks as you're flying down the trail. A strong spring prevents chain slap, reducing noise while on the trail, and improving chain engagement when riding over rough terrain. Sealed pulley bearings keep things spinning smoothly, and wide plate construction prevents the derailleur from getting clogged with mud and debris.
Ride it all with Shimano's SLX Dyna-Sys 10-Speed Shadow Rear Derailleur. The radical design means that the Shadow is super-low profile; it barely protrudes more than the quick release nut. Direct cable routing fires off shifts super quick and reduces the chance of the cable snagging on roots and rocks. A stronger spring keeps the body more stable when blasting through technical terrain at speed and yields a firm, crisp shifting feel. Plus, the bracket axle keeps the derailleur body from contacting your chainstay and reduces chatter so you just concentrate on the best line.
Whether you're attacking a tough climb or cruisin' with a tailwind, you want a front derailleur that shifts quickly and reliably. The Ultegra Front Derailleur does just that with wide pivots for rigid, flex-free shifting, a clear-coated-aluminum body and Shimano's precise engineering.
If you're looking for a quick-shifting, super-light front derailleur, you've found it in Shimano's Ultegra. The wide pivot-link design suppresses flex for light, fast and precise shifts, even under load. And this fine derailleur is built tough for reliability and durability, too.
Shimano's Ultegra Di2 Front Derailleur makes the dream of lightning-quick front shifting a reality. Its intelligent electric brain senses the location of your chain, providing impossibly fast, smooth and accurate shifting, even under load, with just the push of a button on your Ultegra Di2 shifter (sold separately). It also auto-trims to maintain clearance between the chain and cage no matter what chainring/cog combination you choose. You'll never miss a shift again and will hit the right ring faster than ever. And, because there are no cables and housing to stretch, wear or fail, you'll also love Di2's amazingly durable, reliable and silent operation.
Shimano's Ultegra rear derailleur benefits from trickled-down Dura-Ace technology for top-notch shifting without the high-end price. It boasts a light and reliable cold-forged-aluminum body with a wide pivot design that boosts rigidity and speeds and smoothes shifts. Plus, the fluorine-coated pivots minimize friction for nearly effortless shifting. The Ultegra features one sealed-bearing pulley and oversize pulleys, which are silky smooth, ultra quiet, high mileage, and designed to keep out dirt and water.
If you're looking for a quick-shifting triple front derailleur, you've found it in Shimano's Ultegra SL. The wide pivot-link design suppresses flex for light, fast and precise shifts, even under load. And this fine derailleur is built tough for reliability and durability, too.
